Highview Park is on Merritt Street over in the Fernwood area—solid spot if you want to actually get out of the house without having to drive forever. It's basically a neighborhood park, so don't show up expecting manicured gardens or anything, but that's kind of the point. It's where people go to actually walk around, clear their head, and not be around crowds. The vibe is low-key locals doing their thing.

Fair warning though: if you're bringing a dog, there's leash rules posted around the park, so read those before showing up. They can change depending on the season or whatever, so it's worth checking. The park itself gives you enough space to move around without feeling boxed in, which matters on days when Victoria's packed with tourists downtown. Since it's tucked into a residential area, it stays way less hectic than the bigger parks closer to the water.

If you're hungry after, Miche Cafe & Bar is basically right there on the same stretch, so you could grab something quick before heading back. The park's straightforward—no fake Instagram stuff, just a place to actually spend time outside without planning your whole day around it. It's the kind of place that works when you just need a break or a decent walk without the production.
