Visiting With Your Dog
Right off the Trans-Canada Highway in Victoria, this park is a fantastic spot to give your pup a proper workout without venturing too far from the city. The open green spaces are genuinely spacious, so your dog will have plenty of room to run around and burn off energy. Whether you've got a high-octane retriever or a more leisurely walker, the landscape accommodates both types equally well.
When you arrive, you'll find convenient parking near the entrance, making it easy to unload your four-legged friend and head straight into the action. I'd recommend visiting during weekday mornings or early afternoons if you prefer a quieter experience with fewer crowds. Weekends can get busy, especially on sunny days, but it's nothing overwhelming. Bring fresh water for your dog—while the waterfront location is beautiful, you'll want to carry a collapsible bowl rather than relying on natural water sources.
The trails wind through the park nicely, offering shade and a change of scenery beyond just the open fields. Even if your dog isn't an off-leash explorer, the walking paths are excellent for a leisurely stroll. The views alone make it worth the drive, and you'll notice other locals using the space regularly with their own companions.
One of my favorite aspects is how well this spot pairs with a post-park coffee run. Just a short drive away, Miche Cafe & Bar has outdoor seating where you can relax with your pup by your side while you grab a coffee. If you're in the mood for something more substantial afterward, Cafe Brio is also nearby. It's the perfect way to extend your outing without feeling rushed.
All in all, Cuthbert Holmes Park delivers exactly what it promises—a convenient escape with genuine space for your dog to enjoy themselves while you soak in some fresh air and scenery.
