Visiting With Your Dog
Located at 217 Thurston Ave NW in Olympia, Percival Landing Park is one of my favorite spots to take my pup for a good adventure. The park offers off-leash areas, scenic trails, and plenty of open space where dogs can really stretch their legs and socialize with other canine companions. With a solid 4.6-star rating from nearly 2,200 reviews, it's clearly a community favorite.
When you arrive, expect a fairly busy atmosphere, especially on weekends and nice weather days. Parking is available on-site, though I'd recommend arriving earlier in the day if you prefer a quieter experience. The off-leash areas are well-maintained and spacious, giving dogs plenty of room to roam safely. The trails are wonderful for a longer walk if your pup has the energy, and they wind through some beautiful scenery that makes the visit enjoyable for you too.
Here's what I always bring: plenty of water for my dog, since there's no guarantee of water stations throughout the park. Bring waste bags—lots of them—and a towel if your dog likes to splash in any nearby water features. Arrive with realistic expectations about your dog's skill level; the off-leash areas work best for dogs with solid recall training.
One of my favorite things about this location is how it fits into a larger outing. After a good run at Percival Landing, I often head to nearby Puget City Brewing with my dog. Many breweries have outdoor seating where your pup can rest nearby while you grab a cold one. If you're looking for something earlier in the day, Hobbit House of Coffee is a charming spot for coffee before or after your park visit.
Before heading out, verify the current dog policy details on the park's website, as rules can occasionally change. But overall, this park never disappoints—it's a genuinely great spot for dogs in Olympia who love space, trails, and community.
