I'd recommend visiting early in the morning or on weekday afternoons if you prefer a quieter experience with fewer crowds.

Bring plenty of water for your dog—more than you think you'll need—since there's no guarantee of water sources throughout the park. A collapsible bowl is lightweight and convenient. Also pack waste bags; while the park doesn't have dedicated stations, you'll want to clean up after your dog on the trails. Depending on the season, the riverside areas can get muddy, so be prepared for a bath when you get home.

One of my favorite ways to spend an afternoon is combining a visit here with a stop at one of the nearby spots. After a good walk, I'll grab a coffee and a treat from U-Neek while my dog relaxes in the shade nearby. If you're looking for something a bit more substantial, Scuttlebutt Brewing's taproom is just around the corner and welcomes pups in their outdoor seating area—perfect for unwinding after your riverside adventure.
