Visiting With Your Dog
When you arrive at this beautiful waterfront park in Bellingham, you'll find plenty of parking near the main entrance on Electric Avenue, which makes getting your pup out of the car quick and easy. I usually aim for weekday mornings or early afternoons to avoid the crowds, especially during summer weekends when families flock here. The park is genuinely spacious, so even when it's busy, you can find quieter spots if you explore beyond the main areas.
Bring plenty of water for your dog, as the trails can get warm and the sun reflects off the water. A collapsible bowl is a lifesaver. I also recommend packing waste bagsāthe park provides stations, but having extras ensures you're always prepared. The trails are well-maintained and range from easy to moderate, so you can choose based on your dog's fitness level and your mood that day.
What makes this place special is the off-leash area where your dog can really stretch and play freely. The trails wind through lovely wooded sections and open onto stunning waterfront views, giving you both the best of both worlds. Whether your pup is a water lover or prefers staying dry, there's something here for everyone.
After a good session at the park, we often head to one of the nearby cafes for a well-deserved break. Cafe Blue is perfect if you want to grab a coffee while your dog chills beside you on the patio. Or if you're craving something sweet, Sweet As Waffles has a nice outdoor seating area where well-behaved pups are welcome. It's the perfect way to extend your outing without leaving your furry friend behind.
The park's combination of trails, off-leash space, and waterfront scenery makes it one of the best spots in the area for a fulfilling day out with your dog.
